Recognizing Symptoms of Eyesight Problems

Symptoms of Eyesight Problems include blurry vision both up close or on distant objects, vision loss on the periphery or straight ahead, or simple eyestrain. Finding out what causes a specific problem may help take action to prevent further issues or to slow down the effects.

Nearsightedness, also known as Myopia, remains the most widely spread eyesight problem. People suffering from nearsightedness can see objects up close but not at distances. Often this condition will be due to consistent and constant close up work, which in turn results in eyestrain.

Farsightedness, also known as Hyperopia, can be much more serious than other eyesight problems. People with this condition see objects better at a distance and not well up close. While farsightedness tends to be hereditary and nearly every baby is born with some degree of the condition, farsightedness in adults can be a symptom of a more serious health condition, eye disease or even cancer.

Aging vision, also known as Presbyopia, occurs as a person ages. Several other factors such as smoking, drinking excessive alcohol, or poor diet can also cause the condition to happen earlier.

It’s important to consult with an Ophthalmologist once you recognize any of these eyesight problems.
